During this course you will gain the skills to undertake appropriate first aid within a conservation environment.

This course covers:
- Provide basic first aid and basic life support
- Manage first aid in an emergency situation
This course assesses for unit standards:
- Unit 6400 Manage first aid in an emergency situation
- Unit 6401 Provide first aid
- Unit 6402 Provide basic life support
- Unit 424 Assess and manage an emergency care situation during an outdoor recreation activity
Required first-aid pre-training
If you are a successful applicant for the Kaitiaki Whenua Trainee Ranger(external link) programme, then we run set first aid courses for you so you can complete these before starting the programme, register your interest today.
This training is Nelson-based and is usually held 2-4 weeks prior to the start date of the programmes. Students outside of Nelson who cannot attend will need to complete this training independently.
