International Entry requirements

Depending on your country and what level you are looking to study, there are different entry requirements. We want you to succeed in your studies with us so it is important to meet the entry requirements.

The following table provides general academic entry information for students from different countries. Please note that the information provided is a guideline only and may be subject to change. Minimum grades apply.

Applicants to NMIT’s graduate diploma or postgraduate diploma programmes must have an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

In addition, if you are a non-native speaker of English and have not studied at degree level in an English speaking country, you will be required to meet our English language requirements.

Undergraduate academic entry requirements by country

If your qualifications are different to those we have in New Zealand the information below may help you understand the equivalent pass rates for your country. Some programmes may also have requirements in a particular subject area and English language ability so it is best to also check this in conjunction with the specific entry requirements on each programme page.

English language proficiency evidence for students with schooling conducted in the English language

English language entry criteria is met if a student has NCEA level 3 and has met New Zealand university entrance requirements, or

a. been awarded an International Baccalaureate Diploma or Cambridge A-level qualification for which the teaching and assessment was conducted in English:

b. been awarded the Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or the Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (certTESOL)
